Eugene Concerts

Eugene, Oregon is known for many things. The Ducks, mostly, but also its liberal population, its sprawling college campus and the Oregon Bach Festival.  The Eugene Oregon Jazz Concerts scene is one of the best in the country per capita and you can find Orchestras to jazz to country, rock, blues and jazz.

The Oregon Bach Festival may not be as well known as the others, but it should be. The Oregon Bach Festival is when musicians from all over the Eugene area come together to celebrate one of the most talented composers of all time. Johann Sebastian Bach was a composer and organist from Germany. He was part of the Baroque movement and was the symphonies he wrote are still popular today. The festival itself takes place June 26 through July 12, and Bach, Purcell, Handel, Haydn, and Mendelssohn are just some of those whose work is showcased. According to their website, since “1970, the Oregon Bach Festival celebrates the music and legacy of J.S. Bach in an unequaled environment of performance, discovery, and community, in the refreshing early summer of the Pacific Northwest.” It has been called one of the world’s leading musical festivals by the Wall Street Journal.

Symphonies, soloists and orchestras all play during the festival to different audiences. Some are aimed international audiences, while others are played for children. Part of the festival’s goal is to educate the Eugene community about symphonies and classical music in general, as well as provide entertainment for those who are already fans. The festival draws fans from nearby towns such as Salem or Monmouth, and even worldwide.

Tickets are available beginning in February, and can be ordered through any Ticketmaster, mail-in order or the festival website. Prices vary depending on the symphony or concert. Student discounts are obtainable.
