Portland Concerts

Up and coming musical artists thrive in the Portland concerts arena. The community is host to many concerts, and the liberal population provides a supportive environment for ambitious newcomers. One such musician is Nick Crampton, a music minor and senior at Western Oregon University. “I’ve played in a few concerts in the Portland area,” Crampton said. “You’ve got some different styles there, from pop-punk to metal.”

He has played guitar and bass for over 5 years performed in 8 concerts both in Portland and Monmouth. After experiencing Portland concerts first hand, he said there was one definite advantage to performing there. “Due to the large amount of cultural diversity, you’re likely to find someone who likes your kind of music. There are lots of local bands and lots of venues to play at,” Crampton said. “With the right means and communication, you can set up concerts pretty easily.”

Portland concerts happen year around in many locations, such as the Rose Garden, the Crystal Ballroom, and the Hawthorne Theater. Studio 415, Satiricon and Dante’s Inferno are the places to find local concerts. In Monmouth, Western Oregon University hosts concerts every week. They are usually free for students and very affordable for everyone else. Both students and professional musicians are given the chance to perform. “It’s a lot of fun, and you get the chance to appreciate the musicianship,” Crampton said. “It’s enriching.”
